Arda Turan wants to rejoin boyhood club Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey

The Turkey international is closing in on a move back to the club where his professional football career began.

Turkish midfielder Arda Turan has agreed to swap current club Istanbul Basaksehir for his boyhood club Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey.

The 32-year-old is currently on loan with Istanbul Basaksehir from his parent club FC Barcelona, however, he has been overlooked this season by coach Okan Buruk.

Reports in Turkey suggest Turan has agreed to an initial pay-as-you-play deal with no guaranteed salary. However, he will earn a hefty €25,000 appearance fee per match.

It is also reported that he will wear the number 66, the number he wore as a youngster in his early years at Galatasaray.

Arda has play just 176 minutes of football with the Istanbul Basaksehir shirt in the first half of the season, which have been mostly as a substitute.

Istanbul Basaksehir coach Okan Buruk recently hinted at the possibility of Turan leaving in January, suggesting the player would benefit from “a new page” in his career.
