Trabzonspor finally win

Lady luck has shined on Trabzonspor finally as they got their first win of the year with a 2-1 away victory against Alanyaspor today.

Trabzonspor picked up three points today after a long run of draws and losses which stretched back all the way to December of last year.

The match got off to a rocky start for the Black Sea Storm when Emre Akbaba put Alanyaspor 1-0 up in the 8th minute of the first-half. Trabzonspor’s manager must have had some strong words for his team who managed to turn things around after the break and equalized in the 68th minute via star man Burak Yilmaz, who scored his 18th goal of the season.

The winning goal came when promising midfielder Abdulkadir Omur scored in the 77th minute much to the delight of the travelling fans. The 18-year-old was mobbed by his teammates as they celebrated the winning goal.

The match was a hotly-contested affair and tensions were high through-out the full 90 minutes. Referee Serkan Cinar handed out 10 yellow cards, two of them in the first half alone.

The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Riza Calimbay since rumors were circulating about his future being uncertain after such a terrible run of form. Calimbay spoke to reporters after the match and had the following to say;

“We started the second-half very badly. It looked like we were going to draw but we couldn’t accept that. We needed to win today. We needed to put an end to this streak. We had many opportunities before against Fenerbahce, Goztepe and others but today in the first 20 minutes we played very well. Eventually, we got what we wanted. We are glad to have won after a long time and everyone has regained their self-confidence.”

The manager said he hopes the win will turn things around for his team and will be looking to pick up another win next week.
