Fernandao punished for goal celebration

Fenerbahce striker Fernandao banned for goal celebration

Fenerbahce’s striker Fernandao has been punished for his provocative gesture towards Besiktas fans during the derby last weekend.

Brazilian striker Fernandao has been suspended for two matches and fined 13,000 Turkish Lira by the Turkish Football Federation for his inappropriate goal celebration during the Besiktas-Fenerbahce derby last weekend.

The 30-year-old scored early on in the heated encounter and put Fenerbahce 1-0 ahead in the 8th minute of the first-half. The striker celebrated with his usual Hulk celebration however he also thrusted his pelvis towards the Besiktas supporters. This suggestive movement not only provoked the Besiktas fans but it also didn’t sit well with Turkish Football Federation.

The suspension means he will miss Fenerbahce’s Turkish Cup match tomorrow (against Besiktas, nonetheless) as well as the next Super Lig fixture against Akhisar.
