Tolgay Arslan: I want to be the team’s soldier

After Besiktas defeated Trabzonspor 2-0 in Trabzon earlier tonight, Tolgay Arslan conveyed his feelings to reporters.

Besiktas picked up another vital three points tonight as they defeated Trabzonspor 2-0 in a tricky away fixture which saw them score twice in the final 20 minutes of the match.

Tolgay Arslan of Besiktas reflected on his team’s performance and paid his respects to Turkey’s troops as they are going through a military operation in neighbouring Syria.

“Our country is going through tough times. We play 2-3 matches per week and wearn a lot of money. We dedicate this victory to the soldiers that protect us. May God protectthem, help them. We played well and deserved to win. Quaresma and Pepe were missing but we saw that if we play as a team, we can be be successful.”, said Arslan in front of the camera.

“In the Fenerbahce derby I played as a number 10. I want to be involved in the attacking plays, to carry to ball forward, to the be team’s soldier. Everyone did well today.”, he continued, referring to his favored attacking midfielder position.

He also mentioned his teammate who is struggling with playing time and performances, Jeremain Lens;

“Lens is having some difficulties. We supported him today and he played well.”
