Rizespor and Ankaragucu promoted to Super Lig

Two teams from the 1.Lig in Turkey have been promoted to Turkey’s top flight.

With one game left to play, Caykur Rizespor and Ankaragucu have achieved promotion to the Turkish Super Lig as of today.

Rizespor defeated Umraniyespor 1-0 in their away fixture to be crowned 1.Lig champions with 66 points while Ankaragucu won 3-0 against Manisaspor to take second place in the 1.Lig with 62 points.

There is room for one more team to be promoted to the Turkish Super Lig however they will have to battle it out via a promotion play-off knock-out phase.

The other teams in contention for promotion to the Super Lig are Umraniyespor, Boluspor, Gaziantep FK, Erzurum BB and Altinordu.

Congratulations to Ankaragucu on being promoted! I hope their stay in SuperLig to be permanent.

We hope so as well, Radomir!
Ankaragucu had financial difficulties in the past few years and dropped divisions however they seem to have gotten back on track. The summer will be full of transfer dealings for them, to bolster their squad, that’s for sure!
