Arda Turan sent off for pushing linesman

Arda Turan continues to disappoint with his latest mishap after he is sent off during the Basaksehir-Sivasspor match on Friday night.

Turkish international Arda Turan, currently on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir from Barcelona, was sent off with a direct red card during his team’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Sivasspor on Friday night.

The 31-year-old came on as a substitute late in the second-half of the crucial match, one that Basaksehir needed to win if they wanted to move into first place in the league, however he suffered embarrassment after he was sent for shoving the linesman after he was tackled by a Sivasspor player.

Turan’s red card meant that Basaksehir had to play out the remainder of the match with 9 players as Mossoro was sent off in the first half for a reckless challenge.

To make matters worse, his team were leading 1-0 up until turan’s sending off and needed to win in order to remain in the title race but Sivasspor clawed back the equalizing goal and the match finished 1-1.

The result leaves Basaksehir in second place with 66 points after 32 games.

As for Arda, the football authorities are expected to hand the player a several match ban, with some predicting at least 3 matches.
