UEFA to discuss Galatasaray FFP decision

UEFA to discuss Galatasaray financial fair play ruling

Galatasray’s financial situation will be the topic of discussion at UEFA headquarters this week.

The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) will meet Thursday and Friday to decide on the financial fair play situation of Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray and the decision will be announced in June, UEFA announced on Wednesday.

“There are UEFA Club Financial Control Body meetings tomorrow (Thursday) and on Friday, and Galatasaray is part of the agenda,” an UEFA press officer who asked not to be named told Anadolu Agency, the source of the news report.

A decision by European football’s governing body on the financial fair play situation of Istanbul’s Galatasaray will be announced in June, he said.

No officials from Galatasaray will participate in these meetings, he added.

In March, Turkey’s Galatasaray club met UEFA officials in Nyon, Switzerland, to defend that its economic situation is in accordance with financial fair play rules.

Following a three-hour meeting with UEFA officials, Galatasaray President Mustafa Cengiz told reporters: “We made a 50-page presentation and UEFA asked us some questions. We have explained our realistic plan for the next three years.”

“We made three different presentations and UEFA has paid attention to these,” Cengiz added.

Galatasaray already missed the European competition during the 2016-17 season for violating financial fair play rules and will be hoping to avoid another repeat of a similar ruling.
