Korkut extends contract as Stuttgart manager

Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have extended Tayfun Korkut’s contract, the club announced today.

Stuttgart’s Turkish manager Tayfun Korkut and his backroom staff have extended their contracts until 2020.

Korkut took over Stuttgart in January 2018 and impressed during the second half of last season.
Since his arrival, the German club have lost only once in the 14 games he has managed.

His assistants Ilija Aracic and Steven Cherundolo have also been awarded two-year deals. The news was announced on their Twitter account earlier today.

The Stuttgart-native turned things around at the club and lifted the team from the relegation zone to a respectable seventh-placed finish, narrowly missing out on Europa League qualification.

“We’ve got a top team of coaches led by Tayfun Korkut and we’re delighted to have extended the contracts with him, Aracic and Cherundolo until 2020. Of course our on-field success in recent months has been extraordinary, but what was equally important to us was the professionalism that the trio have brought to the club and the harmony and obsession for success that the whole team have developed,” said Stuttgart’s sporting director Michael Reschke.
