Fenerbahce sack manager Aykut Kocaman

The Yellow Canaries have shown Aykut Kocaman the door and have already a replacement ready to take over.

Fenerbahce have sacked their manager Aykut Kocaman, it has been revealed.

The 53-year-old has been shown the door after newly elected club president Ali Koc had promised fans to appoint a new manager in charge of the first team.

The news should not be a surprise to anyone as that was one of the main talking points during the club president elections held earlier this month.

The club’s next manager is widely reported to be PSV Eindhoven’s Phillip Cocu. The Dutch coach’s agent, Rob Jansen, is in Istanbul to meet with the Fenerbahce administration to discuss the job offer.

Cocu is expected to travel to Istanbul on Sunday or Monday and begin his new challenge at the Istanbul club.

Another name to have been linked with the Super Lig side is Leiceter City boss Claude Puel. Fener’s sporting director Damien Comolli has met with the French coach to discuss a potential move but nothing has come of the discussions.
