Europa League: Besiktas beat Torshavn 2-0

The Black Eagles had no trouble as they breezed past their opponents in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier.

Besiktas defeated Faroese club B36 Torshavn 2-0 on Thursday evening in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round game.

The Black Eagles didn’t have to wait long to take the lead as they scored their first goal in the 8th minute through Dutch winger Jeremain Lens, who found an opening just inside the penalty area and let off a powerful shot into the top left corner of the net.

In the 26th minute, the Turkish club doubled their lead thanks to a tap in goal by full-back Gokhan Gonul after a low corner cross.

The Super Lig club are now firmly in the driver’s seat with their 2-0 win going into the second leg of the tie, which is set for August 6 at their home ground in Istanbul, Vodafone Park.
