Fatih Terim extends Galatasaray contract

New fatih terim contract extension

The Emperor has signed a new deal that will see him tied to the club until the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim has agreed to a new and improved 2+3 year contract. The contract is for a guaranteed two-year extension with an optional three-year extension that will be activated if certain criteria are met in the final year of the contract.

The accomplished Turkish coach had joined Galatasaray in December 2017 during a tumultuous time and managed to guide the club to the Super Lig title last season without making any major signings.

His contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, however, the club’s administration, including president Dursun Ozbek, have decided to offer Terim an extension with an improved salary, rumoured to be around €3 million per season which will be paid in Turkish Lira due to the legislation passed by Turkish President Erdogan to combat the weakened currency exchange.

Terim is the club’s most successful coach ever, having led the team to numerous domestic titles, including the Turkish Cup as well as the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000.
