Trabzonspor exclude star players indefinitely

The Black Sea Storm have removed their star forward Burak Yilmaz and goalkeeper Recep Onur Kivrak from first team duties.

Trabzonspor continue their ongoing conflict with striker Burak Yilmaz after his latest outburst. The Turkish international showed his discontent with the club’s fans and staff when he was taken off in the 71st minute of their 1-1 draw at home against Bursaspor on November 4.

The veteran striker caught flack for missing numerous chances and the fans made sure their frustrations wouldn’t fall on deaf ears.

The club’s manager Unal Karaman opted to bring on another player in his place, which pushed Yilmaz over the edge. The player was jeered as he walked off but not before he began cursing and gesturing at the home crowd in anger.

Goalkeeper and team captain Recep Onur Kivrak has also been criticized for his subpar performances in recent weeks.

The team’s last Super Lig game was against Malatyaspor on November 9 when they were demolished 5-0 away.

Trabzonspor have issued a statement on their website notifying the public and their fans of the decision to strip Kivrak of the captaincy and that the two players have been removed from the first team indefinitely.

In addition to this, the team as a whole has been fined 100,000 Turkish Lira (approximately €16,100) for their terrible loss against Malatyaspor.
