Fenerbahce lose again, players return by bus

Players return to Istanbul on Fenerbahce bus

The Yellow Canaries were rocked 3-0 by minnows Akhisarspor on Sunday evening sending them down into the relegation zone.

Fenerbahce suffered another shocking loss this season, this time against Super Lig minnows Akhisarspor on Sunday evening.

The Istanbul giants were on the back-foot for the majority of the game as they fought against a well organized Akhisar team.

However, Koeman’s men ultimately failed to make chances pay and were punished with a 3-0 away loss.

Club president Ali Koc, who was in the stands after returning from his trip to England recently, was in the stands watching on and visibly frustrated by the way his team were playing and the final scoreline.

Once the referee blew the final whistle, Koc is reported to have charged down into the change room and made sure the players knew how he felt. He is said to have given the players the hair dryer treatment for 30 minutes after their latest set back.

To make himself clear, he punished the entire team and technical staff, including coach Erwin Koeman and sporting director Damien Comolli, by ordering them to return to Istanbul by bus as opposed to by private plane as they normally would.

After a short talk and quick change, the players and staff boarded the bus and began their 4 hour and 30 min journey (approximately 400km) back to Istanbul.

The result leaves the Super Lig side in 17th place, officially in the relegation zone, with 14 points.
