Erzurumspor release Lennart Thy

The Turkish Super Lig newcomers have terminated Thy’s contract, leaving him a free agent.

Erzurumspor have confirmed the departure of striker Lennart Thy on Monday.

According to the statement released by club spokesperson Metin Barlak, the club’s administration and technical staff unilaterally decided to terminate the player’s contract.

“We parted ways with the player due to the decisions made by our coaches and management as well as due to the new transfers we will make,” he said.

The 26-year-old German joined the Turkish club in July 2018 from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen on a free transfer.

He made 12 appearances for Erzurumspor and scored 1 goal before his untimely exit. Fans of the club will remember him for his crucial goal in the final minutes of the clash with Fenerbahce that tied the game 2-2.
