Demba Ba joins Basaksehir until end of season

The league leaders have added experienced striker Demba Ba to their squad.

Istanbul Basaksehir have signed Demba Ba from Shanghai Shenhua on loan until the end of the season, the Turkish club announced on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old has returned to the Turkish Super Lig and will line up against his former clubs Besiktas and Goztepe for whom he scored many memorable goals.

The former Chelsea striker passed his medical at the Medipol Mega University Hospital in Istanbul on Tuesday and has been assigned the number 19.

Basaksehir have made a solid start to the second half of the season with a 4-2 away win against Trabzonspor to solidify their spot at the top of the table.

The title chasers are hoping the addition of the experienced Senegal forward, in addition to another attacking veteran they signed earlier this month, Robinho, will help them lift the league title at the end of the season.
