Arda Turan’s restaurant venture fails

Arda Turan restaurant venture Arsiv fails

The Turkish international’s bad luck continues with the latest setback a 3 million Turkish Lira investment in an Istanbul restaurant closing doors.

Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder Arda Turan just can’t seem to catch a break. His latest headache is a restaurant which he opened in Istanbul’s Sisli neighbourhood three years ago has officially closed it’s doors for good on Wednesday.

The business, which cost Arda an initial 3 million Turkish Lira, was aimed at customers with deeper pockets as they set their menu prices at the higher end of the scale.

However, neighbouring shopkeepers claimed the restaurant, called Arsiv, was empty most of the time with the occasional customers stopping by for lunch.

The 32-year-old is having a horrid time since returning to his native Istanbul on loan from Barcelona. He was involved in a bar fight with Turkish pop star Berkay Sahin last year which led to him currently facing charges of sexual harassment, inflicting intentional injuries and using an unlicensed firearm with the intention to cause harm. Prosecutors have requested a 12.5-year prison sentence for his actions.

As for the restaurant, Turan was quoted as saying at the restaurant’s grand opening in February 2016 that his hope is to establish a number of restaurants under the same brand across Europe.

However, after failing to find a buyer for the now-failed restaurant, Arsiv has gone out of business.

Arsiv has closed permanently.
