Besiktas consider re-hiring Slaven Bilic

The Black Eagles are preparing for a future without Senol Gunes.

Besiktas have begun shortlisting candidates for the managerial role in the likely event that current head coach Senol Gunes takes over the Turkish national team at the end of the season. One of the names reported to be at the top of the list is their former manager Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian is currently working for Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad where he is struggling to get his team to perform, facing the threat of relegation as they sit in 15th place, second last from the bottom of the table.

Bilic established himself as a fan favourite at Besiktas during his two year stint with the Turkish club. According to reports, he is interested in returning to the Super Lig giants.

Another name linked with the manager role at Besiktas is Alanyaspor coach Sergen Yalcin. The former attacking midfielder is a legend at Besiktas having spent 12 years as a player with the club during which he scored many memorable goals.

Talks with both coaches are reported to be scheduled in the coming months.
