Erzurumspor part ways with manager

The relegation battlers have decided they need a change of coaches as they seek to remain in the league.

After managing to win just once in their last eleven Super Lig fixtures, Erzurumspor have finally decided to look elsewhere. The club’s administration announced via Twitter on Monday, March 4 their decision to sack Mehmet Ozdilek.

The club thanked Ozdilek, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season, for his service and wished him well in his future career.

“We parted ways with our coach Mehmet Ozdilek. We would like to thank him and his team for their contribution to our team during his tenure. We wish Mr. Ozdilek and his team success in their future,” the club’s statement read.

Whilst in charge, the Turkish coach lead the team to four wins while losing five times and drawing once.

When asked by reporters if he has received an offer from Besiktas to replace the outgoing Senol Gunes, he said;

“There is nothing like that at the moment. I have not received any offers from Besiktas. I will be taking time off to rest. I don’t know what the future holds.”

Within a few hours after sacking Ozdilek, Erzurumspor are reported to have reached a deal with Turkish coach Hamza Hamzaoglu, who will take charge of the first team until the end of the season.
