Guti Hernandez to take reins at Besiktas?

The former Spanish midfielder is currently the assistant manager at the club.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has given the nod to current assistant manager Guti Hernandez to replace the outgoing Senol Gunes at the end of the season.

Speaking to BeINSports Turkey on Wednesday afternoon, Orman said he is hoping to “see more of Guti” as the search for a manager continues.

“There is nothing firm about a manager yet. We would prefer a Turkish coach but we are open to foreign coach, too. I did not meet with anyone yet. After next week, we will begin conducting meetings for a new manager,” he said.

“We want to see Guti a little. We need to see more of him. We need to give Guti a chance. He is an important name in football. ” he said when asked about the search for a new manager.

The president also revealed the names of two players who will leave the club at the end of the season.

“I like Gokhan Tore and Tolga Zengin. But we do not intend to work with them in the future. I love Tolga a lot and I also like Gokhan. I asked them to go to another team before but they didn’t want to go,” he explained.

Orman also said they will stick with under-performing goalkeeper Loris Karius until the end of the season after which the new manager will decide whether to cut his loan short and find a replacement or continue on to the next season with the German goalkeeper.
