Rizespor midfielder Marwane Saadane blasts Turkish referees

Morrocan midfielder Marwane Saadane says referees have “embarrassed” Turkish football.

After last weekend’s Super Lig clash between Caykur Rizespor and Galatasaray ended under controversial terms, Rizespor midfielder Marwane Saadane has chimed in on the low level of refereeing that plagues Turkish football.

Speaking to reporters before a training session on Wednesday as his team prepare for their upcoming fixture against Alanyaspor, Saadane says the referee’s have brought shame to football in Turkey.

“Everyone say what happened, just like we saw it. The referee of the game made really bad decisions. The two penalty decisions were very wrong. Moreover, to go to VAR [Video Assistant Referee] and then make these decisions is embarrassing for Turkish football,” the Moroccan international said.

The 27-year-old also confirmed that he has transfer offers but his priority is to remain with Rizespor.

“I have offers from both domestic clubs and abroad but I am not thinking about them at the moment. I am only thinking about the games until teh end of the season. My priority would be to stay with Rizespor.”
