Trabzonspor’s transfer budget is €1 million

Trabzonspor's transfer budget is 1 million euro

The Black Sea Storm are so strapped for cash that they will rely on loans and free transfers this summer.

In line with the current financial difficulties Turkish Super Lig clubs are facing, Trabzonspor’s budget for the upcoming summer transfer window has been revealed to be around “€1 – €2 million“, according to the club’s president Ahmet Agaoglu.

After watching his team defeat Caykur Rizespor 3-2 away in Rize on Friday in their last game of the season, Agaoglu took questions from reporters shortly following the game during which he revealed some startling news about the club’s financial struggles.

Making it clear that the club will not be able to compete in the transfer market with their Turkish rivals, Agaoglu said his administration will look to make several transfers this summer but will resort to mainly loans and free transfers.

“I figure we will make 5-6 transfers. Young players and experienced players. On loan. We don’t have money. We cannot buy players. That’s not a secret. Either on a free transfer or if we can sign a very, very, good player, we have put aside a budget of €1-2 million. We have no intentions of going above this figure. Free transfers and loans are our preference,” Agaoglu told reporters after Trabzonspor’s last game of the season on Friday evening against Rizespor.

The businessman also dismissed transfer rumours regarding midfielders Abdulkadir Omur and Yusuf Yazici as “pure speculation.”
