Turkish transfer window opens

The summer transfer window will open officially on Monday.

Turkish football clubs are bracing themselves for a busy summer as the transfer registration period in Turkey is set to open on Monday, June 17.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced the start and end dates for the transfer period on their official website on Friday.

The summer transfer period in Turkey will officially end on September 2.

The mid-season, or winter, transfer window will begin on January 4, 2020 and end on January 31, 2020.

With the Turkish Lira (TL) weak against the Euro, US Dollar and Pound Sterling, football clubs in Turkey will have to rely on bargain transfers and tough negotiators in order to make the most of their transfer policies this summer.

With the transfer rumour mill in full swing, Turkish clubs are linked with players from across the globe.

Fenerbahce are reported to be looking for a replacement for veteran defender Martin Skrtel. One of the club’s targets is Lazio defender Stefan Radu.

The Yellow Canaries are heavily linked with Benfica’s Serbian midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa, who is reported to have agreed to join the Istanbul club on a three-year deal.

Roma full-back Aleksander Kolarov is another player who is also on Fenerbahce’s shortlist of potential transfers this summer.

Newly promoted Denizlispor, known as The Roosters, are planning on heavily strengthening their squad this summer as they hope to avoid relegation back to the second division. One of the club’s targets is Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega, who is on the verge of leaving Trabzonspor after new contract talks have stalled.

The 33-year-old traveled to Denizli on Thursday where he met with Denizlispor officials to discuss terms. The club are reported to have offered a two-year deal with an annual wage of €1.1 million per year.

Kayserispor defender Tiago Lopes and Cristian Sapunaru are also wanted by The Roosters.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray are reported to have agreed terms with former Besiktas and Fulham winger Ryan Babel and Toulouse midfielder Jimmy Durmaz. Both transfers are expected to be announced in the coming days.

The Turkish Super Lig champions are also negotiating with Spanish giants Sevilla for their creative midfielder Ever Banega. Galatasaray have made an opening bid of €3.5 million for the player, however, the La Liga giants have countered with an €8 million asking price.

After several days of talks, the two clubs are reported to have agreed on a a sale price of €5.5 million. Following this agreement, Banega’s agent met with Galatasaray officials in Istanbul last Tuesday to work out the details of the contract. Sources close to the club claim his agent is pushing for a €4 million salary whereas Cim Bom are hoping to tie things up for €3.2 million per year.

The two parties are scheduled to meet again next week to hopefully hash out a deal and finalize the transfer. Club coach Fatih Terim has asked the administration for the Argentinian midfielder, who he sees as a must signing before the new season begins.
