Gazisehir Gaziantep appoint Romanian coach

The newly promoted club have brought in Marius Sumudica as their new coach.

One of Turkish Super Lig’s newest teams, Gazisehir Gaziantep FK, have announced the appointment of Marius Sumudica as the club’s head coach.

The Romanian has signed a two-year contract with an optional year, completing his return to Turkey after his short-lived stint as a coach in Saudi Arabia.

Prior to moving to the Middle East, Sumudica was in charge of Super Lig outfit Kayserispor before being shown the door.

Sumudica said he is very happy to be back in Turkey and he gave priority to offers from Turkish clubs over others.

He promised the club’s fans “good football” and a top ten league finish next season.

“My dream is to finish in the top 10. I do not want to feel the fear of relegation during the season. While we do this, we must play good football,” Sumudica told reporters during his signing ceremony in Gaziantep.

He also hinted that he could sign players with whom he has worked with in the past, suggesting transfers from Romania or Kayserispor could be on the cards.

“The transfers we make will be players who play from the heart. We could bring players with whom I have worked before, players I know. Players from Romania and Kayserispor could join us,” he revealed.
