Napoli president confirms Eljif Elmas transfer

The Macedonian youngster has agreed to join the Serie A club after his impressive progress at Fenerbahce.

Napoli football club president Aurelio de Laurentis has announced that the transfer of Eljif Elmas from Fenerbahce is almost complete.

The Italian businessman confirmed to the Italian press that they have agreed terms with the Macedonian youngster.

“The Eljif Elmas transfer has been completed to a large extent. There are only a few small details left. It will finish this week and then we will announce it,” he is reported as saying.

The 19-year-old midfielder has agreed to a five-year contract with an annual salary of €1 million per season.

The transfer sum Napoli will pay Fenerbahce for the player is reported to be €16 million. With performance-based clauses, the figure is expected to rise to €18 million.

Fenerbahce will earn a massive profit from the sale, having side the player for €180,000 from Macedonian club Radnicki in 2017.

The transfer will also go down in the club’s history books as the most expensive outgoing transfer, beating the previous record holder, Moussa Sow who was sold to Al Ahli in 2012 for €16 million.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce are working on signing the club’s former defender Simon Kjaer from Sevilla and attempts are being made to bring in Luiz Gustavo from Olympique Marseille.

Schalke 04 winger Konoplyanka is another name that continues to be linked with Fenerbahce.

Reports from Germany claim Fenerbahce have offered the Bundesliga club €3 million to sign the Ukraine international.
