Lille sign Yusuf Yazici from Trabzonspor for €16.5m

The Ligue 1 club have splashed the cash on Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici.

After weeks of negotiations, French football club Lille have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici from Trabzonspor, who has become their most expensive signing ever in the club’s history.

The Ligue 1 outfit announced the transfer on their official social media accounts on Tuesday while Trabzonspor also confirmed the player’s transfer on their website.

The Trabzon native becomes the second Turk in Lille’s squad, the other being full-back Zeki Celik who signed for the French outfit from second-division Istanbulspor last summer in a €2.5m deal.

Yazici has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with his new club that will see him earn €1.1 million per season, a major pay raise compared to what he was earning at his former club — 2.5 million Turkish Lira (approximately €400,000) per season while at Trabzonspor.

He becomes Trabzonspor’s most expensive outgoing transfer.

Trabzonspor will receive €16.5 million for the player but that figure could rise by €1 million if Yazici makes 25 appearances for his new club.

The Super Lig club will also receive 20% of the player’s future transfer should he be sold or loaned out by Lille.

As part of the agreement between the two clubs, Lille can not sell or loan the Turkish midfielder to a club in Turkey otherwise they will be forced to pay €20 million in compensation to the Black Sea Storm.

Furthermore, Lille defender Edgar Miguel Le has been given permission to move to Trabzonspor on loan without a transfer fee should the two parties come to an agreement.
