Daniel Sturridge reconsidering Trabzonspor offer

The English striker’s parents visited Trabzon and are reported to be impressed by the city and club’s facilities.

Trabzonspor are pulling out all the stops in order to convince striker Daniel Sturridge to join them this month. The former Liverpool player, currently a free agent after being released by the Champions League winners, has been made an improved offer and terms after the player rejected the club’s last offer.

Sturridge’s parents, including his mother Grace and uncle Dean, have also been closely involved with the transfer as Trabzonspor invited them to Trabzon in hopes that they will be pleased with what the club offers and convince their son to make the move.

According to Trabzonspor Vice President Sertac Guven, Sturridge’s family were impressed.

“The player’s family came to Trabzon. In case of agreement, we showed them where they will live and the city. We watched the Trabzonspor-Sparta Prague game together the other night. After that, they left the city. Our negotiations are still ongoing. There is no firm agreement at the moment,” Guven said.

The Super Lig club are reported to have made signing Sturridge a top priority and are keeping tight-lipped with regards to the financial details of the deal.

Earlier reports surfaced in Turkey suggesting the 29-year-old has been offered a three-year deal with €1.5 million-per-year wages including bonuses.
