Emre Mor joins Galatasaray on loan

The Turkish winger will spend the upcoming season with The Lions on loan.

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have announced the transfer of winger Emre Mor from his parent club Celta Vigo on Friday.

The tricky winger will spend the 2019-2020 season with Galatasaray, who have paid a €600,000 loan fee to the Spanish football club.

Mor will earn a reported €725,000 from Galatasaray during his loan with the club.

The deal also includes an option to buy for €8 million should Galatasaray wish to make his stay permanent.

The pacey winger said playing for Galatasaray is a dream come true and that he has a very good relationship with the club’s coach Fatih Terim.

“I respect him very much. I think he can make the most of my talent,” the youngster told reporters on Friday.

Galatasaray president Mustafa Cengiz said he is looking forward to seeing Emre play for the club.

“Turkey is his home and Galatasaray is now the home of Emre. We believe that Emre will display his God-given talent for Galatasaray and Turkish football on the field,” Cengiz said.

The 22-year-old Turkey internatoinal was widely praised for his dribbling abilities when he burst on to the scene in November 2015 with Danish club Nordsjaelland.

However, disappointing stints with Borussia Dortmund in 2016-2017 and subsequently with Celta Vigo, for whom he became a record signing when the Spanish club spent a club-record €13 million in 2017, have derailed his promising career.

The talented winger has been accused of being unprofessional, lacking discipline and commitment during his time at the German and Spanish clubs which lead to him having to publicly apologize for his behaviour in the past.

A new start with Galatasaray could be exactly what Mor needs but only time will tell if he will change his ways and fulfill the expectations set for him.
