Besiktas move for 1.Lig youngster

Istanbulspor Mehmet Zeki Celik

Istanbulspor’s youngster is in talks with Besiktas about a move this summer.

Mehmet Zeki Celik is rated as one of the most promising full-backs to come out of Turkey in recent times.

The 20-year-old versatile right-back has been scouted by Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Basaksehir in recent times. According to Istanbulspor’s manager Yalcin Kosukavak, French club Lille have also inquired about the player with a fax a few months earlier.

“A few months ago, French team Lille sent a fax about Mehmet Zek Celik. They watched us during our game against Karabuk in the Turkish Cup and in the match against Adana in the league. Another team from Italy has also been interested. Zeki Celik has been the interest of Super Lig clubs Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Basaksehir as far as I’ve heard. But Besiktas have a very serious interest and I’ve heard there were meetings with their president. For us, it’s an honour. Hopefully, Zeki will move to a good team at the end of the season.”, the Kosuvaka said about the situation.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman is expected to hold talks with the young talent about a move across the city.

Mehmet Zeki Celik has appeared 24 times for his club this season, scoring 2 goals. The youngster has a contract with the club until 2021 and is valued at €350,000.
