Gomis sets new Galatasaray record

Bafetimbi Gomis sets new Galatasaray record again

Betimbi Gomis has etched his name into Galatasaray’s history books tonight as he scored 4 goals in the away Super Lig fixture against Karabukspor.

French hitman Bafetimbi Gomis continued his fine form for his club as he re-wrote history tonight and set a new Galatasaray record.

Galatasaray took the match to Karabukspor from the kick-off and were up 1-0 by the 5th minute through a goal from the man himself. By the half-time whistle, the Lions had the game in the bag as the scoreline read 6-0. The second-half didn’t change much for either team and a goal from substitute Sinan Gumus made it 7-0 by the end of the match.

Tonight’s goals brought Bafetimbi’s tally to 24 for the season, beating the previous record set by Mario Jardel with 22 goals back in 2000-01, making him the highest scoring foreign player for Galatasaray in a single season. This is, also, the first time Gomis has scored 4 goals in a match in his career.

The record setting didn’t stop there, however. Having scored a total of 27 goals (including the Turkish Cup), he also beat his own personal best record of 25 goals in a single season, which took place when he was a striker for French powerhouse Lyon back in 2011-12.
