Sneijder: I want to return to Galatasaray

Former Galatasaray maestro Wesley Sneijder had an exclusive interview with TRT Spor and had pleasant remarks about his time in Istanbul.

Wesley Sneijder, currently playing for Qatari club Al-Gharafa, sat down with TRT Spor and had an interview which surely will please Galatasaray supporters. The Dutch midfielder spoke about his days with the club and expressed his wish to return one day.

“I’m not a young player anymore. Al-Gharafa made an offer and I spoke with the manager, Bulent Uygun, and I accepted. I heard it was not an easy league. I heard it had quality and the young players are always thinking about football. I’m happy with my decision.”, clarified the midfielder.

Wesley went on to say how much he misses Galatasaray;

“I experienced incredible times at Galatasaray. We were a successful team. In four year, we won 8 cups. I miss the club and the fans a lot. The people were very good. They continue to send me messages. The love is mutual. I love the club a lot. I would love to return to Galatasaray one day. I’m not sure if it will be as a player but maybe as a coach, a manager, I want to return. We’ll see what happens.”

He finished up the interview by speaking about the Turkish Super Lig title-race and how he still continues to follow the league;

“I follow the Turkish Super Lig. It’s very interesting at the moment. Four teams are fighting for the title. By defeating Fenerbahce, Besiktas are still in it. I can’t predict who will be champions but I want Galatasaray to be the champions.”, said Sneijder before wishing his former team good luck.
