Ricardo Quaresma banned for 5 matches

Besiktas winger Ricardo Quaresma has been suspended for 5 matches following the scuffle which saw him sent off in last week’s Turkish Cup derby against Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese winger has been banned for five matches and fined 22,000 Turkish Lira (approximately €4,600) for violent conduct during derby against Fenerbahce.

Ricardo Quaresma has been suspended by the Turkish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee for hitting Fenerbahce’s Josef de Souza in the face during a scuffle in the first-leg of the Turkish Cup semi-final last week.

The committee have found him guilty of committing “an unlawful act and attack”.

This means the winger will miss his team’s next 5 matches as they seek to retain the Turkish Super Lig title this season. His club have announced they will appeal the decision and apply to have the the number of suspensions reduced.
