Lazio considering a move for Besiktas defender

Matej Mitrovic is on Lazio's radar

Serie A outfit Lazio are interested in signing Matej Mitrovic according to Italian sports news outlets.

Besiktas defender Matej Mitrovic is on Lazio’s radar and the Italians are considering making a move for the 24-year-old this summer.

The Croatian player is currently on loan at Belgian’s Club Brugge where he has been featuring regularly. The club has until June 1, 2018 to sign the defender permanently for €4,500,000.

Lazio have been looking to replace Stefan de Vrij, their Dutch defender who is out of contract this summer and has indicated he will leave on a free transfer after renewal negotiations with the club have broken down.

Mitrovic, who appeared just 9 times for Besiktas since joining them, spoke of his time in Belgium thus far;

“There isn’t much of a difference in the tempo of football between Besiktas and Belgium. At Besiktas, there are older, more experienced players. But in Brugge, it’s a dyanmic team which gives everything every minute.”

The 24-year-old signed for the Black Eagles for €4.2 million from HNK Rijeka back in January 2017.
