Erkan Zengin cancels contract with Eskisehirspor

Swedish international Erkan Zengin, who is of Turkish origin, has terminated his contract with 1.Lig club Eskisehirspor.

Erkan Zengin’s time in Turkey has come to an aburpt end after the player terminated his deal with the club today. The player took to twitter to make the announcement.

“I can announce that today I have broken my agreement with Eskisehirspor. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the club and our fans who have supported me over the years. It has been an honor to have worn the shirt and the captain band! Next stop Stockholm!”, Zengin wrote on twitter.

The Swedish player was close to joining Turkish Super Lig side Alanyaspor in the closing days of the January transfer window however the deal broke down. It has been suggested that this was the reason for the 32-year-old to decide to break his contract and leave the club.

His contract was worth €1.3 million however the player has asked for a €300,000 termination fee to settle the matter.

The winger was in his second stint at Eskisehirspor, having joined them in 2016. His first stint with the club was from 2010 until 2015, where he enjoyed a successful 5 years and became captain after putting it impressive performances.
