Luis Cavanda sold to Standard Liege

Luis Cavanda signs for Standard Liege

Galatasaray have begun their transfer business early by selling Luis Cavanda to Belgian club Standard Liege.

Galatasaray’s right-back Luis Cavanda has been moved on by the Turkish side after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Fatih Terim. Standard Liege had loaned the player at the beginning of the season for €500,000 and Cavanda has done enough to merit a permanent move.

The Belgian side have decided to sign the player on a permanent deal and have paid Galatasaray €1,500,000 million for his transfer.

Cavanda has expressed his desire to remain in Belgium;

“Of course not everything is dependent on me but I would like to stay. In addition to this, I have hopes of going to the World Cup with the Belgian national team. Everything is possible until the day the squad is announced.”

The 27-year-old has made 24 appearances for Standard Liege this season.

The Angola-born player had signed for Galatasaray from Trabzonspor for €1,800,000 milion back in August 2016 however he featured just 7 times for the Lions and had not been able to secure a regular place in the team.
