Toronto FC bid for Mathieu Valbuena

Mathieu Valbuena linked with a move to Toronto FC

Major League Soccer club Toronto FC have made an offer for Fenerbahce’s Mathieu Valbuena, according to reports from Turkey.

Fenerbahce’s French attacking midfielder Mathieu Valbuena might be on his way out after reports have suggested Toronto FC have made a transfer bid to sign the player.

The Canadian club has offered to sign Valbuena for €1.5 million but are yet to receive a response from Fenerbahce, according to the report.

The player has not featured regularly since the beginning of the year and there are rumors of a fall out with manager Aykut Kocaman. Since signing for Fenerbahce from Olympique Lyon last summer for €1.5 million, the player has made an immediate impact with his performances; 23 appearances, 6 goals and 13 assists.

This isn’t the first time Valbuena has been subjected to a transfer offer from abroad since his move to Istanbul. In the winter transfer window, the club received a bid from a Chinese football club however the player decided to remain in Europe.

The MLS transfer window shuts on May 1 and so whether the Frenchman will stay in Istanbul or leave for North America remains to be seen.
