UEFA fine Besiktas for insufficient organization

The Black Eagles have been fined by UEFA’s disciplinary board for not taking enough precautions during a Champions League fixture.

UEFA has issued a monetary fine to Besiktas for ‘insufficient organization’, the football authority’s disciplinary board announced.

In the 2017/18 Champions League tournament, Besiktas faced German powerhouse Bayern Munich in the last 16 knock out round where the Turkish club’s fans threw foreign substances onto the field and stadium stairwells were occupied by standing fans, which UEFA referred to as ‘insufficient organization’.

The game in question took place in the club’s home ground; Vodafone Park in Istanbul.

The fine is €34,000 Euro.
