Rizespor cancel Austria pre-season training camp due to unrest

Caykur Rizespor have announced their decision to cancel the their pre-season training camp in Austria due to the political unrest in the country.

Turkish Super Lig newcomers Caykur Rizespor have decided to cancel their pre-season training camp in the European country due to the recently announced ban on mosques.

The club feel the decision of the Austrian government to ban seven mosques in the country and discriminate against Muslims is not something they wish to be associated with and therefore have cancelled the third part of their training camp.

Club president Hasan Kemal Yardimci explained their decision in front of journalists earlier today;

“We will begin our pre-season training on June 27th in Rize. After that, we will continue to train in Erzurum during the second part of the camp. We planned to go abroad to Austria for the third part however due to the recent developments there we have decided not to.”

The president went on to say that they will sort out the pre-season training camp’s final location in the coming days.

The club will participate in next season’s Super Lig after they were promoted from Turkey’s second divison, 1.Lig, by becoming finishing in first place.
