Fenerbahce to open talks for Rangers striker Morelos

Fenerbahce join race to sign Rangers striker Morelos

Fenerbahce are the latest team to join the race to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, with Besiktas also circling.

Super Lig powerhouse Fenerbahce are expected to travel to Scotland this week to open negotiations to sign Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

The Rangers striker was the Scottish side’s top scorer last season with 18 goals in all competitions and he attracted interest from China in January, with the Ibrox side not interested in doing business then.

He was linked with a move to Turkey last month with Besiktas interested in the 21-year-old.

But Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce have stolen a march on them in the chase for Morelos.

Reports from Turkey have indicated Fenerbahce will send a team to Glasgow this week to try to secure the signing of the former HJK Helsinki player.

It’s also being claimed Fener will offer Martin Skrtel to Rangers plus cash for Morelos.

Fenerbahce look set to appoint former Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac as their new boss this week after he was headhunted by the club’s new sporting director, Damien Comolli, who also used to be at Anfield.

And he’s sanctioned a major overhaul of the squad after they finished in second place behind great rivals Galatasaray this term.

Morelos was priced at up to £10million in the last transfer window, but his value has significantly dropped after a disappointing end to the campaign, where he netted just once in his last 10 games.
