Konyaspor appoint Riza Calimbay as manager

The 55-year-old has agreed to take charge of Konyaspor.

Riza Calimbay, who was sacked by Trabzonspor last month, has been appointed as manager of Konyaspor.

Prior to the news, the club parted ways with Sergen Yalcin just hours before their announcement.

Yalcin had been the man in charge since March 6th 2018 and was seen as a temporary placement until a more experienced coach could be appointed.

Riza signed a one-year contract with a possible one year extension depending on certain criteria.

Konyaspor released a statement on their official website announcing the news.

Riza will travel to Konya on Thursday June 21st 2018 to meet with the club’s hierarchy and officially sign the contract with the club on Friday June 22 2018.

He spent last season as the manager of Trabzonspor from October 2017 until the end of May 2018, guiding the team to a respectable fifth place finish.
