Rennes confirm Turkish offer for Mexer

The French club’s defender Mexer has been subject to a transfer bid from Trabzonspor.

Mozambique international Mexer is the latest name to be linked with Trabzonspor. The 29-year-old is currently plying his trade for Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Rennes President Olivier Letang discussed the amount of offers made for players in his current squad in a press conference.

“Nobody has contacted us for our players, only a Turkish club made an offer from Mexer, which was minimal, but we want to keep him,” he told reporters.

The bid is believed to have come from Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor. The Black Sea Storm are reported to have offered a three-year deal to the player, who is said to have responded positively and is open to moving to the Turkish club.

Mexer, whose real name is Edson André Sitoe, is a centre-back with the French club and has one year left on his contract.

Trabzonspor have made signing a centre-back their top priority this summer and have been unsuccessful with their transfer bids in recent weeks.
