Emre Belozoglu to retire at end of season

The veteran midfielder will hang up his cleats at the end of the 2018/2019 season.

Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder Emre Belozoglu announced that he will retire at the end of the 2018/2019 Super Lig season.

The 37-year-old spoke to TRT Spor today.

“If it wasn’t for Abdullah Avci I would have stopped at the end of last campaign. But I will leave football at the end of the season,” he said.

Emre is currently preparing for the upcoming campaign with his team in Salzburg, Austria where they are carrying out intensive pre-season training.

A Galatasaray youth academy product, he has gone on to play for Inter, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce before joining Istanbul Basaksehir in the summer of 2015.
