Besiktas advance, face LASK Linz in Europa League

Besiktas have advanced to the next round after brushing aside their opponents.

The Black Eagles thrashed Faroe Islands outfit B36 Torshavn 6-0 on Thursday evening in their quest to qualify for the Europa League group stages. The victory means the Turkish team advances to the third qualifying round in the 2018/2019 UEFA Europa League, where they will meet Austria’s LASK Linz.

Canadian forward Cyle Larin, who joined the club last season from Orlando City, managed to get a hat-trick, scoring in the 31st, 61st, and 79th minutes.

Full-back Caner Erkin and midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup scored one goal each, in the 43rd and 74th minutes, respectively.

Brazilian striker Vagner Love scored the last goal of the night, finding the back of the net in the 93rd minute from a penalty.

Besiktas defeated Torshavn 2-0 in the first leg of the tie on July 26th, making the score 8-0 on aggregate.

The first leg of the tie against LASK Linz will take place on August 9th while the second leg will be played on August 16th.
