Besiktas defeat FK Partizan to qualify for group stages

The Black Eagles had no troubles in the second leg of their qualifier as they eased past Serbian side FK Partizan.

Besiktas have qualified for the group stages of the 2018/2019 Europa League. The Turkish giants defeated FK Partizan 3-0 on Thursday evening in Istanbul, 4-1 on aggregate.

Portuguese star Pepe broke the deadlock with the game’s first goal in the 37th minute. After the defender’s opener, midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup doubled their lead in the 45th minute of the first half with another goal.

Pepe rose the occasion once again in the second half and found the back of the net in the 69th minute, making the score 3-0.

The first leg of the tie finished 1-1, which means the aggregate score is 4-1 for Besiktas, allowing them to advance to and participate in the group stages of the tournament.

Turkey’s other representatives in this year’s Europa League are Fenerbahce and Akhisarspor.
