Alanyaspor appoint Sergen Yalcin as manager

Besiktas legend Sergen Yalcin has been given the managerial role at the resort town club until the end of the season.

Alanyaspor have confirmed the appointment of Turkish coach Sergen Yalcin as their new manager.

The former Besiktas player has signed a contract that will see him stay with the club until the end of the current season.

The Super Lig club released a statement on their official website shortly after holding a press conference at the club’s facilities in Alanya.

Club chairman Hasan Cavusoglu wishes their new coach success and said he is hopeful the club can climb up the league table. They are currently in 13th place with 12 points and have won just 4 games.

The club’s new manager spoke briefly about his appointment expressing his gratitude for the opportunity.

“A new phase is taking place at Alanyaspor. We are hopeful that it will be a positive phase for both the club and our staff. I would like to thank president Cavusoglu for giving me the opportunity and for his approval. I believe Alanyaspor will be successful going forward,” Sergen said.

He also added that the league is now more open than ever before, with his first game in charge being against struggling Fenerbahce this weekend.

“Every team can beat anyone in the league. Everyone is working hard. You never know. We can win but we can also lose. It’s easier to concentrate on such games. I hope the weekend will be a good one for us.”
