Ryan Babel will leave Besiktas – agent

Winger Ryan Babel to leave Besiktas, says his agent

The Dutch winger has signaled his intention to leave the Black Eagles.

Besiktas winger Ryan Babel is in the final six months of his contract and talks have stalled, according to the player’s agent Winnie Haatrecht.

Speaking to Dutch press, his agent confirmed Babel has been negotiating with the club but talks have not been positive thus far.

“Unless Besiktas pull a rabbit out of a hat, it will be difficult to agree terms. It’s not true that Babel will terminate his contract in January. It seems like he will leave after June 30th. He has no plans for now except to play the remaining games Besiktas has and the Dutch national team. There are a lot of reports being written but majority are false. It is true, however, that there are a few clubs interested. A player of Babel’s quality who will be a free agent would interest many clubs,” his agent explained.

Besiktas are reported to have offered the Dutch international a two-year contract with an annual salary of €2.5 million, an increase on his current €2.1 million salary. However, the player is asking for a €3 million per year, three-year contract.

The 32-year-old has been one of the club’s best performing players but with his high wage demands and Besiktas’ worsening finances, it seems like he could end up following his former teammate Pepe out of the exit door.

Another player who is also rumoured to be on his way out is Brazilian full-back Adriano.

The former Barcelona full-back is asking for an improved deal at €2 million per year for another two years. He is currently earning €1.85 million per season.

Japanese side Jubilo Iwata are monitoring the Brazilian and a move could be on the cards for him if the contract issues remain the way they are.
