Emmanuel Emenike in talks with Denizlispor

Former Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike is wanted by the 1.Lig club.

Turkish club Denizlispor, who play in the country’s second division, have made an ambitious attempt at trying to sign striker Emmanuel Emenike.

The small club have approached the 31-year-old, who is currently a free agent, with a contract offer and according to reports in Turkey, the initial talks have been “positive”.

Denizlispor find themselves in second place with 36 points in the 1.Lig and are have set themselves the goal of achieving promotion to the Super Lig by the end of the season.

If the Nigerian were to make the move, he would be arriving to familiar territory. Before joining Fenerbahce in 2011, he played for Karabukspor in the 1.Lig where he scored 16 goals in 28 games in his first season, capturing the attention of several big clubs in Turkey and abroad.

Since leaving Fenerbahce, Emenike went on to have short stints with West Ham United, Al Ain and Olympiakos but is now looking for a new team.
