Bursaspor sack coach Aybaba

The Green Crocodiles have shown Samet Aybaba the door after a run of poor results.

Bursaspor have found a replacement for the recently sacked Samet Aybaba, the club confirmed on Tuesday, April 9.

After being fed up with the lack of improvement on the pitch, the club’s board of directors decided to terminate Aybaba’s contract on Sunday evening, April 7.

The Super Lig club announced via their official website on Tuesday, April 9 that they have appointed Mesut Bakkal as the successor to Aybaba. The contract is reported to be until the end of the current season with the option to extend if the 55-year-old is successful.

Bakkal had been unemployed since parting ways with Alanyaspor in November 2018.

This is the Turkish football club’s seventh managerial change in the last four seasons.

Bursaspor are currently in 15th place with 28 points and are facing the threat of relegation, which Bakkal said he plans to avoid at all costs.
