Trabzonspor make Ekuban loan permanent for €1m

The Ghana international says he is happy with his decision to remain in Turkey.

Trabzonspor forward Caleb Ekuban is staying with the Turkish club and is happy with his decision to make his stay permanent.

“We receive a serious amount of respect and love here. I’ve also had the opportunity to be called up to the national team while playing here. What else can a football player ask for? That’s why I’m very happy to remain with Trabzonspor,” he told reporters in Turkey.

He also spoke about the club’s chances of qualifying for Europe this season and said the team is doing their best to finish the league with as many points as they can.

The 25-year-old joined The Black Sea Storm in August 2018 on a season-long loan from English outfit Leeds United. Trabzonspor paid the Championship side €200,000 for the loan.

His performances this season — 8 goals in 32 appearances — have convinced Trabzonspor to sign him on a permanent deal.

The Turkish club have reached an agreement with Leeds to sign the player permanently for €1 million.

Trabzonspor announced the news via the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on Friday, May 3.

As of July 1, 2019, the Italy-born forward will become Trabzonspor’s first official signing of the summer.
