Emre Belozoglu swaps Basaksehir for Fenerbahce

The Turkish midfielder has joined the Yellow Canaries for his final season as a professional.

Turkish veteran midfielder Emre Belozoglu has completed his transfer from Istanbul Basaksehir to Fenerbahce on Tuesday.

Fenerbahce announced the transfer on their official website with a picture of the veteran midfielder wearing the club’s yellow-and-blue uniform.

“Our club has signed a one-year contract with Emre Belozoglu. Our sporting director Damien Comolli was present at the signing of our national team player Emre Belozoglu at Ulker Stadium. Emre is an important part of our community and we welcome him. We wish him much success,” the statement on the club’s official website read.

The 38-year-old was given permission to join Fenerbahce by Istanbul Basaksehir’s president last month, saying he wanted to retire while playing for the Yellow Canaries.

This is Emre’s third stint with Fenerbahce, having played for the club during two previous times — from 2008 until 2012 and from 2013 until 2015.
