Fenerbahce set record with sale of Elmas to Napoli

The Yellow Canaries have cashed in on their promising Macedonian youngster by selling him for a record-breaking €16 million transfer fee.

Turkish football giants Fenerbahce have confirmed the widely expected transfer of talented youngster Eljif Elmas to Italian outfit Napoli on Tuesday.

According to the official information provided by the Turkish club to Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Fenerbahce will receive an initial €16 million for midfielder Eljif Elmas from SSC Napoli.

In addition to the transfer fee, depending on the player’s performance and Napoli’s sporting results, the Italian club will pay a maximum bonus of €1.5 million to Fenerbahce.

Furthermore, Fenerbahce will receive a maximum of €1.5 million fee of the player’s future transfer away from Napoli depending on the transfer fee.

The 19-year-old is in Italy where he is finalizing his transfer to Napoli and will ink a five-year contract.

The Macedonian prodigy has become the second most expensive transfer away from Turkey following Cenk Tosun’s transfer from Besiktas to Everton last season.

Fenerbahce have made a large profit from the sale, considering they purchased the player for €180,000 from Northern Macedonia’s Rabotnicki in July 2017.
